The Ottawa Senators heard all the noise surrounding Brady Tkachuk, then they heard from Brady Tkachuk himself. And they came to the conclusion that now was the time to cut ties with their captain and the heartbeat of their team.

After dealing Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers for the ninth and 25th picks in this year's draft, a first-rounder in 2029 and a second-rounder in 2030, it will be years before the Senators will see any return on this deal.
