Chantel McCabe, who serves as sideline reporter on the Carolina Hurricanes' television broadcasts, has been suspended by the team after being charged with driving while impaired.

McCabe, 25, was charged Saturday after being stopped in the 1600 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Hurricanes team president Don Waddell issued a statement Tuesday morning announcing that the team has placed McCabe on suspension through Oct. 30.

"In light of what happened this past weekend, we think it is best that Ms. McCabe take some time away from the team," said Waddell.

McCabe also hosts the Hurricanes' pregame show.
