Canes place Alexander Semin on injured reserve, activate Brett Bellemore

The Canes on Thursday placed forward Alexander Semin on injured reserve while activating defenseman Brett Bellemore off injured reserve.

The Hurricanes said Semin has a lower-body injury. Coach Bill Peters also has said he has experience soreness in his wrist, which required offseason surgery.

Semin did not play in the game Monday against the New Jersey Devils and missed practice Wednesday.

Bellemore has missed the past seven games with a lower-body injury. He has a plus-1 rating in 13 games this season.
