CAROLINA HURRICANES VS NEW YORK RANGERS

WHAT: Game 2, Qualifying Round.

WHEN: Monday, Noon

WHERE: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto.

WATCH, LISTEN: FOX Sports Carolinas is broadcasting the game remotely from PNC Arena, with Mike Maniscalco handling play by play and Tripp Tracy the analyst.

LOOK FOR: The Canes’ penalty killing was 7-for-7 in Game 1, keying the 3-2 victory, but Canes coach Rod Brind’Amour said his team was “playing with fire” by taking too many penalties. Game 1 was tightly called by the officials. Will that continue?

QUESTIONS: Is Dougie Hamilton ready to play? Brind’Amour said the injured defenseman is closer to returning but likely will miss Game 2. Will Brind’Amour stick with the same lineup that won Game 1 or draw in defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk and forward Ryan Dzingel, who both sat out the opener?

OF NOTE: Canes rookie forward Martin Necas had the game-winning goal Saturday in his first postseason NHL game. The Czech was the third player in franchise history to score the winner in his NHL postseason debut, joining Erik Cole (2002 vs New Jersey) and Sylvain Turgeon (1986 vs Quebec).

QUOTABLE: “It was a fast game, especially for me in the first period. I touched the puck my first shift and got hit right away. It was kind of wakeup call. Everything was fast but it was a good game.” -- Canes forward Martin Necas, who was sandwiched by two Rangers in an early center-ice collision.

UP NEXT: Game 3, Tuesday, 8 p.m., Scotiabank Arena.
