One star of the Carolina Hurricane’s magical playoff run won’t be available for the Stanley Cup Final.

The famous skate mug that debuted in Game 1 of Round 2 against the Philadelphia Flyers won’t be sold at home games this series. That’s because there aren’t any left, club manager Brooke Crompton said.

“We don’t have any of those,” Crompton said. “Those won’t be back (this series).”

The skate mug became a sensation in Game 1 against the Flyers, selling out before the third period on May 2, The News & Observer previously reported. In that game, the team sold 4,687 skate mugs and created a viral sensation on social media, with pans posting hundreds of pictures of beer-filled skates in the arena.

The 28 ounce skate mug alone cost $19, but could be discounted to $12 with the full price of a beverage. It was also sold filled with candy for $22.

But Canes fans are lucky the mugs arrived at all. The skate mugs were purchased in October at the beginning of the season from overseas and ran into shipping delays due to issues with federal tariffs.

Instantly, the skate steins became one of the Canes’ most popular promotional items. Other fun vessels are still available, like the slender beer hockey stick and the zamboni popcorn bucket.

Because of the popularity and scarcity, the skate mugs have popped up on resale sites like eBay, offered as high as $550.
