Canes prospects to play in Traverse City
The Carolina Hurricanes are again appearing in the Traverse City prospects tournament, hosted by the Detroit Red Wings, and will have 15 drafted players on their team.
The eight-team tournament will be held Sept. 11-15 in Traverse City, Mich. The Canes, coached by Charlotte Checkers coach Mark Morris, will open play Sept. 11 against the Red Wings.
The Canes’ first-round draft pick, defenseman Noah Hanifin, will play for the Canes along with former first-round pick Haydn Fleury. Others on the roster include forwards Sergey Tolchinsky, Phil Di Giuseppe and Brock McGinn and defensemen Roland McKeown and Brett Pesce.
Carolina faces Dallas at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 12, before finishing round-robin play against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sept. 14. Once the eight teams have finished round-robin play in two groups, each team will play a final game on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
