Canes place Wisniewski on IR

The Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday placed defenseman James Wisniewski on injured reserve.

Wisniewski suffered a torn left ACL Thursday in the Canes’ season opener against the Nashville Predators. The team said Saturday that Marty Isbell of Raleigh Orthopaedic will perform surgery on Wisniewski’s knee on Tuesday.

In another personnel move Saturday, the Canes reassigned defenseman Danny Biega to the Charlotte Checkers (AHL). Biega was recalled Friday but was a healthy scratch in Saturday’s game.
