Tim Gleason has ended his tryout with the Carolina Hurricanes, notifying the team Thursday of his decision.
The veteran defenseman, 32, had been practicing with the team since Nov. 18 on a professional tryout basis.
“Tim informed us today he wasn’t going to continue to pursue his tryout,” general manager Ron Francis said. “He looked and felt good physically, but didn’t feel up to the grind of the NHL mentally. We wish Tim and his family nothing but the best.”
Gleason spent much of his career with the Canes, helping them reach the 2009 Eastern Conference finals. He was traded by Carolina to the Washington Capitals last season and appeared in 14 playoff games for the Caps.
