Gerbe off IR; Canes reassign Di Giuseppe, McGinn
The Carolina Hurricanes on Friday activated forward Nathan Gerbe from injured reserve. The team also reassigned forwards Phil Di Giuseppe and Brock McGinn to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
Gerbe, 28, suffered an ankle injury on Nov. 22 against Los Angeles and has missed the team’s last 25 games.
Di Giuseppe was called up from the Checkers on Dec. 4, made his NHL debut and played well on a line with center Victor Rask and winger Jeff Skinner before suffering a concussion Jan. 2 against Nashville. He recently returned to practice but has not played.
McGinn had a goal Thursday in the Canes’ 4-1 road victory over the St. Louis Blues while playing with Rask and Skinner.
