Di Giuseppe, Murphy recalled: Pesce on IR

The Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday recalled forward Phil Di Giuseppe and defenseman Ryan Murphy from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

The Canes also said defenseman Brett Pesce has been placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.

Murphy, 22, last played Dec. 5 for the Hurricanes and has four assists in 18 NHL games this season. He has scored five goals and 11 assists in 22 games with the Checkers to rank third in scoring among team defensemen.

Di Giuseppe, 22, made his NHL debut on Dec. 5 in the Hurricanes’ game against Montreal, and has notched three goals and earned five assists in 18 NHL games this season.
