Quincy Hall cruises to 400 semifinal win in Paris as former Gamecock chases Olympic gold
South Carolina great Quincy Hall looks to take momentum from Tuesday’s semifinal win to his 400-meter run final Wednesday night at the Paris Olympics.
The South Carolina All-American ran a 43.95-second race Tuesday, cruising to another win where he once again appeared to not need to sprint down the stretch.
Hall looks to have a shot at gold in the final at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. He did not comment to media following his Tuesday race.
Coming into his first Olympic Games, Hall was ranked the world’s No. 1 in the 400 race and put up a 44.28 time en route to an easy preliminary round win on Sunday night.
Hall, who won the 2019 NCAA 400 hurdles title with the Gamecocks, has set himself up well for a chance to end up on the podium. This season, his personal best is 43.80 and he won the US Olympic Trials to headline Team USA’s men’s 400 squad.
Following his USC career, Hall took the professional track world by storm last season when he won the 400 bronze and 1,600 relay gold at the 2023 World Championships.
