The record for an unranked team jumping into the top 25 is Kansas, which went from out of the poll in the preseason to 4th in Week 2 in 1989. Michigan, after beating Iowa State, North Carolina and Gonzaga in the Bahamas, has a chance to beat that. I dropped the Wolverines in the 5 spot -- behind the four other unbeatens who were at or near the top of my poll -- but I’m sure they’ll get a few No. 1 votes. And really, in a season like this, who can argue?

I left Louisville at No. 1 and the next game for both teams is ... Michigan at Louisville, which means there’s a pretty good chance one of those two teams will be in the No. 1 spot next Monday.

I also added Butler and Florida and took a long look at San Diego State and West Virginia, both of which have strong resumes and will have a chance to move into the top 25 next week. Michigan was my 26th team last week, which I guess bodes well for both of them.
