MAZEBOUND Hunt, Gather, Run! Takes Survival Horror Up A Notch By Trapping You And Your Friends In A Labyrinth

As if survival horror games aren't hard enough, Absam Studios aims to take it up a notch by trapping you and your friends inside a labyrinth, filled with monsters, in MAZEBOUND: Hunt, Gather, Run!

The premise is simple. You and your friends enter a Labyrinth, whose gate is held up by a mysterious, giant floating hand, by the way, forced into the maze filled with monsters as you awake on the island between the gate and the endless sea behind you. In terms of gameplay, it follows your typical sandbox crafting survival affair, with the added horrors of the labyrinth's monsters and abominable creatures.

Craft gear, build out temporary bases, and hunt smaller monsters for survival. However, don't get too attached to whatever you build, as the horrors of the labyrinth will always be afoot. Abandon old bases and run until you find the exit and survive this nightmare.

MAZEBOUND: Hunt, Gather, Run! Is Out Now On Steam

MAZEBOUND: Hunt, Gather, Run! came out earlier this week on Steam, sitting currently at a Positive rating out of 25 reviews. MAZEBOUND: Hunt, Gather, Run! is Absam Studios' first big game, coming after their more party-focused Werewolf Partythat came out last year.

"Making a game from start to finish sometimes feels like navigating a maze of horrors, but the development journey we've been on has been the most rewarding experience of all our games," says Absam Studios founder, Sam. "My wife and I wanted to build something that challenged players and created lasting memories, and having made MAZEBOUND together, it's our love letter to crafting and survival games."

The game carries the following features:

  • Procedurally generated maze design, making each player generated world a fresh challenge
  • Wield up to three melee and ranged weapons at a time, including axes, spears, guns and the boinker
  • Limited player inventory
  • Physics-based storage - push a cart and stack items to help you extract, but consider weight distribution, placement, and speed.
  • Craftable upgrades for your cart, including adding a ballista
  • Increasing difficulty as players progress further into the maze
  • Piece together the maze's mystery and overcome your amnesia
  • Play alone or with friends, with balancing designed to make both approaches challenging but accessible
  • Balance risk and reward throughout, from enemy encounters to resources used on upgrades or replenishing your health and willpower

If you're looking for a survival horror crafting game that has more tension coming from the need to always move, then MAZEBOUND is a good choice to try. As an added incentive, a launch competition runs until May 30th, offering dedicated players Steam gift cards for the 10 fastest "Runs" on the leaderboard.
