Watch: Steven Spielberg talks aliens in 'Disclosure Day' final trailer

May 27 (UPI) --Disclosure Day director Steven Spielberg appears in a final trailer for the film.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker, 79, discusses the possibility of alien life in the preview released Wednesday.

Disclosure Day is a new sci-fi feature from Spielberg, who previously featured aliens in his films Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982).

"I am much more inclined now than I was when I made Close Encounters to really believe that we're not the only intelligent civilization in the universe," Spielberg says in the trailer.

"How will Disclosure change us? I believe for the better. It will remind us of our capacity for empathy, and that there is something bigger out there than just ourselves," he adds.

Based on a story by Spielberg and written by David Koepp, Disclosure stars Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor as Margaret and Daniel, two people swept up in a massive government conspiracy about alien life.

The cast also includes Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo and Wyatt Russell.

Disclosure Day opens in theaters June 12.
