Gunsmith Simulator Just Added Its Heaviest Weapon Yet

Gunsmith Simulator's newest expansion, Heavy Metal DLC, is officially out now on Steam, bringing machine guns into the mix for players who have mastered repairing and testing traditional firearms. Released alongside the free Update 1.6, the DLC gives players new tools to tinker with - and far more firepower to manage.

This time around, the focus is less on careful single shots and more on sustained bursts of controlled chaos. Heavy Metal DLC introduces four recognizable machine guns inspired by real-world favorites, including the MG3, M249, M60, and PKP Pecheneg, each offering a very different feel when it comes time to test them out at the range.

Of course, handling machine guns comes with a few extra complications. Players now have to deal with overheating barrels during long firing sessions, adding another layer to the game's realistic approach to weapon maintenance. Thankfully, barrel swapping has also been added, letting players keep the lead flying without bringing everything to a halt.

The shooting range itself has also received some love. New animations for heavier weapons, a dedicated machine gun setup, and even a metal radio station blasting in the background help sell the fantasy of stepping into a workshop built for serious firepower.

Even if you're skipping the paid DLC, there's still plenty packed into the free 1.6 update. Players can now go prone while shooting, experiment with bipods for better stability, test weapons at distances up to 300 meters, and jump into new shooting range mini-games.

For longtime players, it's another sizable addition to a simulator that has steadily grown since launch through both paid expansions and free updates. While earlier DLC packs explored historical black powder weapons and modern Polish firearms, Heavy Metal feels like the team simply asking: "What if we made everything bigger?"

And honestly, that seems to be the point.
