John Stamos Didn't Like His Nose Job-So He Called Michael Jackson's Surgeon
John Stamos is getting candid about a cosmetic decision he says didn't go as planned-and the unexpected Hollywood connection that helped fix it.
Stamos reflected on a decades-long injury that led to two surgeries, ultimately turning to singer Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon. "I broke it when I was a kid. I got hit with a golf club. There was a little scar here," Stamos said on The Really Good Podcast about breaking his nose. "And I was on General Hospital, and I just didn't like the way it looked, and so I got it done, and it didn't look great."
Adding, "And then I went and I actually had it fixed by Michael Jackson's guy." Jackson, who died in 2009 at age 50, had a string of surgeries, including two on his nose. His procedures were often criticized as excessive, with some claiming they dramatically changed his appearance.
Stamos felt confident in Jackson's plastic surgeon after the initial surgery. He reflected on the experience in his memoir, writing, "Everyone who gets a nose job tries to find some excuse other than vanity, but let's call it what it was - vanity," adding that he was "not all that happy with it. My nose looks kind of pushed up like Peter Pan or something. So on my next hiatus, I have it redone by Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon."
Stamos, 62, is often noted for his youthful appearance and recently shared insights into how he maintains his youthful glow.
"I stopped drinking 10 years ago. That's why I'm alive," he told Us Weekly. "I never would have met my wife [Caitlin McHugh] if I was still drinking. I'm happy where I'm at in my career, but I think I would be a lot further along if I'd stopped sooner. I got the job done, but I could have done it better, and I could have been more connected."
He added, "I wash my face. Depends on if there's some scrub around. I work out three or four times a week. I do this electric muscle-stimulation thing where you put a suit on, but you only wear it for 20 minutes. But good sleep now is important. Having a young son helps."
