Imagine dining at an upscale restaurant and being serenaded by the sounds of a tuba – played by your local weather forecaster.

That happened Tuesday night, when WRAL meteorologist Greg Fishel performed “Auld Lang Syne” at 18 Seaboard in Raleigh.

Fishel’s concert came as a surprise as members of the WRAL weather team had a goodbye dinner for Nate Johnson, meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner wrote in a Facebook post. Though the gesture was directed at Johnson, Gardner said the whole restaurant reaped the benefits.

Johnson, who joined WRAL in 2007, announced in late October his departure from the Raleigh station to take a position with NBCUniversal.
