Exclusive: Watch Vivian Howard’s ‘A Chef’s Life’ video highlights from Seasons 1-4

It’s just one week until the premiere of the fifth season of “A Chef’s Life,” and a look back at some of the best moments of the first four seasons seems like the perfect appetizer to next Thursday’s big event.

It’s the same treat fans got at a recent Season 5 premiere party at Carolina Theatre in Durham, where a short film of Seasons 1-4 highlights – goofy, sweet, giggle-inducing highlights – preceded a sneak preview of the first episode of the new season.

The Emmy and Peabody Award-winning “A Chef’s Life” series follows Kinston’s Vivian Howard and her husband, Ben Knight, as they run the Chef & the Farmer restaurant and the Boiler Room Oyster Bar.

The upcoming fifth season of the show, which opens with an episode on tomatoes, will follow Howard as she launches her book tour. Other episodes this season focus on peppers, pears and pole beans.

PBS will air the first episode of Season 5 on Oct. 3 and it premieres here Oct. 5 on UNC-TV, keeping the show’s usual 9:30 p.m. Thursday time slot (all local PBS stations can pick their own air dates and times).
