What to Watch on Monday: New John Coltrane documentary features Denzel Washington

Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary (10 p.m., UNC-TV) – Independent Lens presents this look at the events, passions and experiences that impacted the life and music of jazz artist John Coltrane, from his childhood in the South to his years with Miles Davis to his tenure as leader of one of jazz’s most revered quartets. Directed by John Scheinfeld, this movie features Denzel Washington speaking the words of Coltrane.
