CBS North Carolina has picked Taniya Wright as the new weekday morning and noon co-anchor.
Wright, who previously worked at KJRH in Tulsa, Okla., will join Russ Bowen, Paul Heggen and Erin Clanahan starting Feb. 1.
WNCN news director Ed Trauschke said he first became aware of Wright’s work two years ago and was “immediately impressed with her wit and personality.”
Wright had a bit of a viral moment in 2016, when she and other members of the KJRH morning team broke into uncontrollable laughter during a discussion about beavers. Wright can be heard laughing over the weather report and saying, “I can’t see. I’m crying.”
Never miss a local story.
Another note in Wright’s “plus” column? She’s a cat person.
Wright also worked more than six years at WFLA in Tampa.
