‘Days of Our Lives' Star Patrick Muldoon Dies at 57: Cause of Death Revealed

In some sad news to close out the weekend, TMZis reporting that Days of Our Lives actor Patrick Muldoon passed away on Sunday, April 19, of an apparent heart attack. His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, shared with TMZ that on the morning of April 19, Muldoon was at his Beverly Hills home with his girlfriend. After drinking a cup of coffee, he then went to take a shower. Once it appeared to his girlfriend that he was taking too long in the shower, she went to check on him, but found him lying unconscious on the bathroom floor.

Paramedics were called to the scene and attempted to revive the actor. Sadly, they were unable, and shortly thereafter, he was declared dead.

Patrick Muldoon's Acting Legacy in Hollywood

According to IMDb, Muldoon has an impressive 94 acting credits attached to his resume, and actually had a few projects in the pipeline. It was the 90s sitcom classic Who's the Boss? that launched his career, as he played the character Matt across two episodes. It was not long after that, in 1991, when he portrayed Jeffrey, the owner of The Max and the man responsible for breaking up popular TV couple Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Kelly (Tiffani Amber Thiessen) in Saved by the Bell.

He would star in a number of TV movies following his Saved by the Bell stint, but arguably his big break came playing Austin Reed in Days of Our Lives (from 1992-1995, 2011-2012). Muldoon would also become well-known for portraying Zander Barcalow in Starship Troopers and Richard Hart in Melrose Place.

Patrick Muldoon Was Producing a Movie Starring Chris Hemsworth

Muldoon was not only an actor but a producer as well. At the time of his passing, he was actually producing the upcoming movie Kockroach. The film is currently in production, but is loaded with A-listers, including Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), Channing Tatum (Magic Mike), and Taron Egerton (Rocketman).
