Paw parents are always looking for new and innovative ways to keep their pups busy. Let's face it, it isn't always convenient to take your dog outside to throw the ball around the yard, and it's nice to have some easy indoor activities to keep them entertained when you can't. These types of toys can be especially useful on rainy or cold days, too!

Otis, a 3-year-old Golden Retriever, recently rediscovered an interactive treat toy, and his mom shared a quick 9-second TikTok video showing how it works. He seemed to grasp the concept quickly as well.

Honestly, this enrichment game is fairly simple and includes just two pieces. There's a push button that chimes and activates the treat-dispensing unit, which is placed across the room. The Golden Retriever gave us a demonstration, and it looks pretty simple to use.

Otis tapped the activation button with a simple nose boop. The unit chimed like a doorbell, signaling that kibble had been dispensed. Mom says, "Go get the treat!" and the pup heads over to get his reward.

Why Are Enrichment Toys Important for Dogs?

Experts from Mountainside Veterinary Hospital suggest that dogs need mental stimulation to thrive. They further note, "Dogs are intelligent, social animals evolved to interact with their environments. Without enough stimulation, dogs can become bored and anxious and develop unwanted behaviors like barking, digging, and chewing furniture."

Although Otis's mom didn't share any specifics about the toy, a simple Amazon search returned many results similar to the one Otis uses in the video. There are also tons of other toys that provide the mental stimulation pups need. These include snuffle mats, interactive puzzle toys, and even hide-and-seek products.

Out of all the enrichment toys we have, my Goldendoodle loves his wobble ball the most. I just fill it up with his regular dry dog food, and he does the rest!
