The Red Road Starring Jason Momoa Leaving Netflix on June 26
Netflix will be doing the usual shuffling of its streaming library in June, getting rid of dozens of titles and adding dozens of others.
One of the series exiting the platform next month is The Red Road, which ran for two seasons on SundanceTV from February 2014, to May 2015. While The Red Road didn't have a long shelf life, it did feature an impressive cast, including Jason Momoa (Stargate Atlantis, Aquaman).
When is The Red Road signing off Netflix?
Both seasons (12 episodes in total) of The Red Road will leave Netflix June 26, according to What's on Netflix. The series is one of six AMC shows departing Netflix in June.
"Over the past couple of years, Netflix and AMC have built a cozy licensing relationship, bringing plenty of binge-worthy prestige dramas and comedies to the world's biggest streaming service," said What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore. "The major caveat is that most of these are licensed to Netflix for short periods, with many lasting between 6 (yes, just six months) and 24 months."
More about The Red Road
A thriller set in suburban New Jersey, The Red Road focuses on Sheriff Harold Jensen, played by Martin Henderson, whose investigation into the disappearance of a college student leads him into conflict with the local Native American community, which includes Phillip Kopus, played by Momoa.
"Jensen eventually comes into contact with dangerous ex-con and tribe member Phillip Kopus, whose return to the college town raises suspicions and threatens to disrupt the peace," reads the Rotten Tomatoes synopsis. "After a tragedy and cover-up further divides the town and the tribe, Kopus takes advantage, forcing Jensen to compromise his principles or risk destroying his family."
The series also stars Julianne Nicholson, Allie Gonino, Tamara Tunie, Kiowa Gordon and Annalise Basso, with Tom Sizemore, Lisa Bonet and others playing recurring roles.
The Red Road has a 67% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.3/10 mark on IMDB.
