Atrium Health Cabarrus among 10 N.C. hospitals earning top patient safety grades

CONCORD - Atrium Health Cabarrus was among 10 Atrium Health hospitals in North Carolina to receive an "A" grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group in its Spring 2026 Hospital Safety Grades report.

Charlotte-based Atrium Health led the state with the most "A" ratings among health systems, according to the nonprofit watchdog organization, which evaluates nearly 3,000 hospitals nationwide twice a year.

In addition to Atrium Health Cabarrus, the following hospitals earned top grades:

* Atrium Health Cleveland

* Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center

* Atrium Health Lincoln

* Atrium Health Kings Mountain

* Atrium Health Mercy

* Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Health Wilkes Medical Center

* Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center

* Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center

* Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center

The Leapfrog Group uses 22 evidence-based measures to assign grades ranging from "A" to "F." Evaluations include hospital performance in preventing medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as safety systems and procedures.

Atrium Health is part of Advocate Health, the nation's third-largest nonprofit integrated health system. Across the organization, Advocate Health hospitals received 26 "A" ratings in the Spring 2026 report, the highest number of top grades the system has received from Leapfrog.
