A kitten got to experience her first trip to the beach, and it went exactly how you'd expect it to go.

In a video posted on TikTok, a kitten named Flow got the chance to experience a proper beach day for the very first time. In the video, Flow's dad captured the whole day, from the moment they all arrived at the beach to her careful exploration of the sand and her surroundings.

Her dad recorded several milestone moments from the beach trip, like Flow's first time getting used to the sound of the ocean waves, Flow following her dad through the sand, and her "fearful exploring." Eventually, Flow became more confident at the beach and began to play around more. She'd play with her dad, and when she felt nervous or scared, she'd check in with him to get the comfort she needed before continuing to play.

Eventually, Flow took a short nap in her carrier before she played more with her dad. In the video's caption, he shared that Flow "did so good" and that "she slept very well after this" trip.

The internet absolutely loved Flow's beach day and couldn't get enough of her adventures with her dad. Users loved how "small" she is and that she got to spend the day at the "beach with papa ."

"The biggest litter box she's ever seen," one user wrote, while another joked that "THE WHOLE WORLD IS YOUR BATHROOM HERE ."

How to train your kitten to explore the world

While cats are best known for staying at home and not wanting to go out, it is possible to harness-train them and get them used to adventures outside.

In the video's comments, one user asked why their cat wouldn't go to the beach like Flow did, and asked, "Where do all these people find these cool cats that love water and leashes?"

Flow's dad took to the comments to confirm that you "gotta train them young" to get them to like the beach and feel comfortable moving around on a leash.

In another comment, another person asked about how they managed the litter situation with flow, and her dad said, "[Flow] was too nervous to use the bathroom at the beach, but I live out of my car, so every time she uses the bathroom it IMMEDIATELY goes into a dog bag and is discarded. I

"If she went [to the bathroom at] the beach, I'd let her go in the sand and put it in a dog bag and pack it out."

When harness-training a cat, it's important to let them get used to the harness at their own pace and to make them feel safe.

The best way to build positive reinforcement is through gentle training and plenty of treats. According to the YourCatBackPack blog, it's best to start them out in a controlled outdoor setting, so they're used to going outside and wearing the harness.
