Beyoncé Named One of America's Richest Self-Made Women
It's official: Beyoncéis one of the richest self-made women in America, according to Forbes. The announcement comes six months after the publication revealed that the singer was a billionaire.
Forbes stated on Thursday, June 4, that "the majority of pop star Beyoncé Knowles' net worth comes from her roughly three decades as a solo performer and a member of the girl-group Destiny's Child." She became one of the richest self-made women after the 2025 Cowboy Carter Tour, for which Forbes reports she made "more than $450 million in ticket sales and merchandise." As a result, the tour pushed her net worth over the edge, officially making her a billionaire as of last year.
Beyoncé, whose net worth is estimated at $1 billion, is one of only a handful of women in media and entertainment to make the annual list this year. Taylor Swift and Rihanna are the only two singers on the ranking. Beyoncé and Rihanna are tied for 39th with Swift ranked 16 spots above them. Forbes does not list media and entertainment as Rihanna's source of wealth; instead, her wealth comes from fashion and retail through her cosmetics and lingerie lines, Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty. Oprah Winfrey and Kim Kardashian also made the list.
Beyoncé is not keeping her wealth hidden. She and her husband purchased a mansion in Malibu for $200 million, the most expensive home ever sold in California at the time. The couple has since been beaten out by Oakley sunglasses founder Jim Jannard, who sold his Malibu home for $210 million. Other records that Beyoncé holds include the most Grammy wins ever with 35 awards. She was also the first black headliner at Coachella.
Jay-Z, Beyoncé's husband, is also a billionaire. In fact, he is "hip-hop's first billionaire," according to Forbes. Besides a successful music career, Jay-Z has multiple investments, including art, liquor, and music. He is the head of Roc Nation, which has stakes in multiple companies. In 2021, he sold 50% of his luxury champagne brand, Ace of Spades, to LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), and in 2023, he sold the majority of his D'Usse stake to Bacardi. Jay-Z's other investments have contributed to his net worth, including shares in Uber and his fine art collection.
Beyoncé has not released her "Act III" album as of yet, but it is in the works. The third album in a series, as the name suggests, has no official release date as of yet. The eagerly awaited album will serve as the finale following Renaissance and Cowboy Carter, both chart-topping successes for the artist.
