These $13 Foldable Camping Chairs from Aldi Are a Total Steal

The first day of summer is coming up fast - as of this writing, there are seven days until the solstice. This dawned on me last night, and I then spent a few frantic hours bulk-buying sunscreen, bug spray, swimsuits, and beach hats. Why? Because this year, for once in my life, I want to go into summer prepared.

My proposal to you: do the same. The fastest pathway to a relaxing summer is knowing that you have the right gear. And on top of all the sprays, suits, and sun protection, you absolutely need a comfortable, foldable, portable chair.

Aldi gets it (real talk, Aldi gets us). And on June 17, they're dropping the perfect Aldi find to fill the void.

Adventuridge Foldable Camping Chair - Black, $12.99 at Aldi

The Adventuridge Foldable Camping Chair may look like your standard outdoor chair - and at $12.99, you'd be forgiven for thinking it might be run-of-the-mill. But previous buyers of Aldi chairs say it's likely to be anything but.

"The frame is so sturdy, the chair is so comfortable, and it folds up so easily," said one social media user who grabbed a very similar chair last year. Commenters compared that chair to Costco options, which go for $40 or more, and said it holds up well over time - one person said they'd had theirs for 4 years and it's still going strong.

A History of Chair Excellence

Aldi has had a version of this chair for many years, re-upping them every summer for their chair-hungry shoppers. Students of Aldi history say that while the price has gone up (just barely - a chair in 2017 was $7.99), the bones of the chair have remained the same.

They are consistently made with a steel frame and polyester fabric. They come in a bag and are easy to unfold. They have cupholders in the front, mesh pockets in the back, and are comfortable to sit in.

2026's offering looks set to uphold the Adventuridge legacy without veering from the proven formula. And thank god for that.

Grab and Go

In order to be ready for anything this summer, buy as many of these as you can get your hands on when they're released. My advice: it's ok if you want to keep a few stationed in the backyard - but don't forget to pop the others in the trunk of the car. Having comfy, easy chairs always available means that you'll be ready for impromptu beach days or park hangs, and you'll never find yourself sitting on wet grass at the farmer's market. And if you take them actually camping, too? All the better.
