Company considering $22M investment in Catawba County; public hearing on incentives June 30
Catawba County and the city of Hickory will meet June 30 to discuss an economic development agreement with an unknown company.
The Catawba County Board of Commissioners, Hickory City Council and Trivium Corporate Center, Inc. will meet and hold a public hearing on the economic development agreement for Project Goat.
According to a public notice about the hearing, the company will commit at least $22.5 million in real and personal property investments. At least 80 jobs will be created. Hickory and Catawba County will each provide up to $603,750 in incentives to the company.
Nathan Huret, vice president of the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation, said the company is a European manufacturer considering their first U.S.-based plant. Huret said the economic development corporation had worked with the company on a site selection for the past nine months. The company is considering a 22.25-acre site adjacent to the first Corning plant at Trivium.
The public hearing will be held on 2 p.m. at the Workforce Solutions Center, 1980 Startown Road in Hickory.
