Cooking from the Garden: Spring Pestos

Dig into Veggies!

This five week course explores all aspects of a vegetable garden from planning the garden to making a plate beautiful with vegetables. Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival

Screen Printing

Screen Printing (Serigraphy) is a printmaking medium that enables you to create multiples of your original art work. Learn how to make simple Screen Prints without expensive tools or materials. This workshop will cover printing on T-shirts and/or paper, creating designs for printing, cutting a stencil, preparing the screen, and printing multiples of your design. All materials will be water based. Screens and squeegees will be provided. A $25 materials fee due the day of the workshop will cover all materials needed for printing. Green Home Tour

The Triangle Green Home Tour features innovative, high-performance and unique homes in various stages of construction open to everyone for a free self-guided tour. Tour dates are April 29-30 and May 6-7, Noon-5 pm. A green building professional at each site answers questions about that home’s particular green features. There are 30 homes on the tour: Durham (4), Orange (8), Chatham (9), Wake (6), Granville (2) and Person County (1). No tickets required. Activating the Backyard

Join landscape designer Preston Montague at the JCRA for a design course series that will help you revise and reboot your outdoor space. Lucy Dierks: Avian Tablescapes

Sewing Custom Wrap Skirts

Learn to piece together a bohemian style wrap skirt. Beginning sewers are welcome. Arboretum Guided Tour

Guided tours are available to the public free of charge every Sunday at 2 pm through October. Eastern Mountain Leather Shoes

Each student will learn how to create modern versions of traditional moccasins. We will cover a variety of hand and machine techniques so you can design custom shoes. Mother Earth News Fair

At the Mother Earth News Fair, you’ll discover workshops and lectures to get you further down the path to independence and self-reliance. Beginning Sewing Class

Join a textile artist and sewing instructor for this class designed for brand new beginners and re-entry sewers. We will cover tools and sewing concepts, machine threading and troubleshooting, straight stitch, zig-zag, and applique stitches. Students will design and sew a class project using The Scrap Exchange’s awesome wealth of fabrics and trims. Gala in the Garden

At Gala in the Garden you’ll enjoy great food and drinks, a stroll around the gardens and the chance to bid on auction items. The proceeds raised are the critical unrestricted funds used for daily operational expenses and ongoing research of landscape plants at JC Raulston Arboretum.
