Favorite Things: A Bavarian creche
This crèche was purchased in 2000 from a wood craftsman in Oberammergau, a small village in the Bavarian Alps known for its elaborate passion play put on by the villagers every 10 years. The tradition began in the 1600s as a promise to God for sparing them from the bubonic plague. The eight-hour play is delivered in German. The translation booklet helped! We display the crèche year-round.
