With Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean is launching an Icon Class ship with more choice than ever when it comes to itinerary options. While the cruise line launched both Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas with seven-night Caribbean cruises from Florida, Royal Caribbean is offering Mediterranean and Caribbean sailings for its third Icon Class ship's inaugural season.

Not only can vacationers choose between two popular cruise regions for sailings on a brand-new ship, they can select from a wider variety of itinerary options in each region - from short, three-night getaways to six-, seven-, and eight-night cruises, and even a 13-night transatlantic sailing.

After sailing in the Mediterranean from July through October, Legend of the Seas will debut in the U.S. in November to begin a season of six- and eight-night cruises to the western and southern Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale. However, the ship's very first U.S. cruise is a three-night sailing to Royal Caribbean's private island in The Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

And if you want to take a quick Bahamas getaway on a brand-new ship, you now have another opportunity to get on board.

Royal Caribbean adds earlier Bahamas cruise on Legend of the Seas

Royal Caribbean just added a new three-night cruise to Perfect Day at CocoCay before the previously scheduled first U.S. sailing on Legend of the Seas, as reported by Royal Caribbean Blog, a fan blog not affiliated with the cruise line. The new sailing will depart from Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 8 ahead of the inaugural U.S. voyage departing on Nov. 11.

"The anticipation is building, and we simply can't wait to welcome guests onboard for our arrival into Fort Lauderdale - so we're opening the door to an unforgettable adventure sooner than expected. To celebrate the excitement, we're thrilled to share that one (1) additional sailing has been added - creating another opportunity to be among the very first to experience everything this groundbreaking ship has to offer," Royal Caribbean wrote in an email to passengers booked on the Nov. 11 sailing.

Royal Caribbean offered passengers booked on the Nov. 11 cruise the opportunity to move their reservation to the earlier date or book an additional sailing to combine the two for a longer cruise, if they choose. The Nov. 11 sailing will still be considered the inaugural U.S. sailing, which typically includes special events and commemorative gifts, while the new three-night cruise will give vacationers another opportunity to sail on the new ship first.

The new addition to Legend of the Seas' sailings from Fort Lauderdale follows changes to the ship's inaugural season in Europe that saw earlier summer sailings added from Rome as the ship's construction progressed ahead of schedule.
