The state announced Monday that it is putting a 1.8-acre site on Peace Street just north of downtown up for sale.

The state is seeking someone who will sign a long-term ground lease agreement for the property at 101 W. Peace Street, which is now home to a personnel training center.

The property is across Peace Street from Seaboard Station, the successful retail center that is now owned by William Peace University.

Gov. Pat McCrory’s office announced the property sell in a news release. The state said it is also selling a the vacant Charlotte Correctional facility in west Charlotte.

“Selling these properties is part of our strategy to reform how state government occupies space for greater efficiency, productivity and cost control,” Gov. Pat McCrory said in a statement.
