Fire at Durham recycler blamed on machine motor
Fire damaged a bundling machine and materials at a recycling plant Wednesday night after a motor overheated, firefighters said.
Smoke was coming from the back of a building at Sonoco Recycling at 4619 Industry Lane when the first trucks arrived shortly after 8 p.m., Deputy Chief Chris Iannuzzi said.
Workers led firefighters to the burning machine, and they had the flames under control within 10 minutes, Iannuzzi reported.
No one was hurt.
