Durham convenience store shooting kills 1 man, hurts another
Two men were found shot – one wounded and one killed – late Wednesday at a Broad Street convenience store during what appears to have been a robbery, police reported.
Jala Nafez, 57, of Durham was dead when police got to the Fast Food Mart at 2106 Broad St. shortly after 11 p.m., according to a police department news release. Nafez worked at the store.
Police did not disclose the wounded man’s identity but said he is 48 and also worked at the store. They said he was taken to a hospital for treatment of wounds that officers did not believe were life-threatening.
Police had not announced any suspects or any arrests Thursday. They ask anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
