Wake County Clerk of Superior Court: Knox wins narrow victory
Jennifer Knox won a narrow victory in the race for Wake County Clerk of Superior Court Tuesday, edging out challenger Sam Bridges.
With all precincts reporting, Knox carried just over half the vote. Bridges fell short with a total that fell slightly under 50 percent.
Knox, a Republican, has been a District Court judge for 10 years. Bridges, a Democrat, is an attorney and former Garner mayor.
The clerk is responsible for the Wake courts’ administrative, clerical and record keeping functions.
The winner will replace Lorrin Freeman, who ran for district attorney this year and won election for Wake district attorney general Tuesday.
