Fire spreads from boat to Raleigh home

Raleigh firefighters said that an accidental fire that began in a boat parked next to a house on Omni Place spread to the building early Wednesday.

The fire was reported at 4:34 a.m. at the two-story home at 4413 Omni Place, off Leesville Road. Firefighters had it under control at 5 a.m., a report from Capt. W.P. Gaster, one of the department’s investigators, said.

Gaster estimated that about 40 percent of the house was damaged.

One person was living in the home, the report said. No one was hurt.
