Raleigh police name man shot to death on Sunday night

The 26-year-old man killed in a shooting on Calumet Drive on Sunday night was Brandon Alexzander Chavis, police said Tuesday.

Chavis was declared dead at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, where he was taken after police found him in the 3100 block of Calumet.

Officers had been sent there about 10 p.m. to investigate a report that shots had been fired in the area.

Detectives said it was a homicide, and police asked that anyone with information that might help them find who killed Chavis call Raleigh CrimeStoppers at 919-834-HELP (4357) or visit raleighcrimestoppers.org for text and email reporting options.
