Police arrest UNC research prof on child-porn charge
Police on Thursday charged a UNC School of Pharmacy researcher with obtaining or distributing child pornography.
Kuohsiung Yang, 33, was arrested at the Timberlyne Village Apartments off Weaver Dairy Road and charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
A magistrate set Yang’s bail at $500,000.
The Eschelman School of Pharmacy website says Yang is a research assistant professor in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics. He specializes in computer modeling and simulation and in statistical analysis for a research group in the department.
