Raleigh police: Cary man, Durham woman promoted prostitution

A 55-year-old Cary man and a 29-year-old Durham woman were charged Wednesday evening with promoting prostitution, and each was held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Detectives charged Li Hong of 313 Bridle Boast Road in Cary and Junjun Chen of 4407 Hopson Road, a Morrisville address between the Durham Freeway and NC 54 in Durham, after questioning.

The arrest warrants for the two state that the activity involved began in February 2015 and continued through Wednesday.

Hong is accused of promoting prostitution by offering to arrange meetings with prostitutes. Chen is accused of promoting prostitution by receiving a portion of a prostitute’s earnings.

Each is charge with felony conspiracy for working with the other.

The arrests grew out of an investigation that began late last year, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said. He declined to discuss details, saying the probe is continuing.
