2 arrested, 1 suspect wounded after Raleigh break-in
Two men were arrested and one suspect was sent to a hospital with a gunshot wound late Wednesday after what police said was a robbery attempt gone wrong.
The incident happened in an apartment at 2110 Thesis Circle, arrest warrants said. The two men arrested were charged shortly after midnight.
Derondell Edwin Jenkins Jr., 23, of 2120 Wolftech Lane, was charged with breaking and entering, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit an armed robbery. An arrest warrant stated that he and Raymond Wynn, who was wounded in the shooting, had a semiautomatic pistol.
Wesley Alexander Age, 20, of 3202 Resolution Lane, was charged with being an accessory after the fact, with police saying he drove Jenkins and Wynn away from the scene.
Police said they took Wynn to WakeMed Hospital in Cary, and he later was transferred to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, a trauma center, because of the seriousness of his wound.
It appeared that Jenkins and Age then returned to Thesis Circle, where records show that officers arrested them.
Police said Wynn was shot by someone inside the apartment, but it was unclear Thursday if more than one person was home at the time. No charges were filed in the shooting.
Jenkins also was charged with Feb. 12 break-in and larceny of a Sony Playstation game console from an apartment on the road where he lives.
Jenkins appeared in court Thursday and was being held in lieu of $80,000 bail.
Age also appeared in court and was released on bail.
Wynn had not been charged Thursday because he remained hospitalized.
