Wounded man charged with Durham home invasion, shooting
Police charged a man with assault and kidnapping after what they said was a daytime home invasion in which he and another man were shot multiple times.
Okeith Desmond Taylor, 31, was arrested at Duke University Hospital, where he had been dropped off Wednesday afternoon for treatment of his wounds, police said.
A second man was found shot multiple times when officers answered a call about a home invasion in the 900 block of Massey Avenue a short time earlier, police spokesman Wil Glenn said.
The man found on Massey Avenue was reported to be stable after treatment for his wounds, Glenn said Thursday.
Police said Taylor had been seen fleeing Massey Avenue in a car after the shooting there. It was not clear if he was wounded inside or outside the house.
Taylor was taken to the Durham County Detention Center, where he was held in lieu of $4 million bail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first-degree kidnapping, attempted robbery, gun possession by a felon, breaking and entering, assault on a female and three counts of second-degree kidnapping.
The incident happened between South Alston Avenue and Colfax Street.
