Man accused of sex offense with preteen Raleigh girl
A man was being held on $1 million bond Friday after police charged him Thursday night with committing sexual improprieties with a 12-year-old girl in the first half of 2015 and then during the Christmas season, when she was 13.
In an arrest warrant, police detectives accused Humberto Escalera-Sanchez, 38, of 5113 N. New Hope Road in Raleigh of first-degree sexual offense with a child and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child between Dec. 20, 2014, and late June 2015.
The warrant also alleged Escalera-Sanchez had taken indecent liberties with the same girl between last Dec. 20 and Dec. 31.
Police said the girl and Escalera-Sanchez were acquainted before the incidents cited in the warrant.
Escalera-Sanchez was scheduled for a court appearance Friday.
