Graduations will bring heavy traffic to downtown Raleigh
The City of Raleigh is warning motorists to be prepared for heavy traffic in downtown through June 9 as 19 different Wake County schools hold rehearsals and graduation ceremonies.
Rehearsals will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center and the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Each rehearsal session is expected to draw approximately 500 people.
Traffic, both pedestrian and motor vehicle, will increase when the graduation ceremonies are held between June 6-9. More than 60,000 people are expected to attend each day.
The graduation ceremonies will be held:
▪ Saturday, 8 a.m. – Green Hope High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ Saturday, 12 p.m. – Athens Drive High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ Saturday, 4 p.m. – Wake Forest High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ Saturday, 8 p.m. – Wakefield High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ Sunday, 8 a.m. – Enloe High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ Sunday, 12 p.m. – Apex High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ Sunday, 4 p.m. – Panther Creek High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ Sunday, 8 p.m. – Heritage High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ June 8, 8 a.m. – Fuquay-Varina High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ June 8, 12 p.m. – Garner High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ June 8, 4 p.m. – Leesville Road High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ June 8, 6 p.m. – Phillips High School, Meymandi Hall;
▪ June 8, 8 p.m. – Millbrook High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ June 9, 8 a.m. – Holly Springs High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ June 9, 10 a.m. – Middle Creek High School, Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts;
▪ June 9, 12 p.m. – Sanderson High School, Raleigh Convention Center;
▪ June 9, 2 p.m. – Knightdale High School, Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts;
▪ June 9, 4 p.m. – Cary High School, Raleigh Convention Center; and,
▪ June 9, 6 p.m. – East Wake High School, Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.
