NCSU police investigating death on campus

N.C. State University police were investigating the death of a student who plunged from a building Monday near the heart of campus.

Police were on the scene outside Dabney Hall, and an NCSU spokesman said the death was still under investigation, but no foul play was suspected. The male victim’s name was not released.

Dabney Hall is a nine-story building, where chemistry, statistics and physics classes are held, according to the university’s website. It is close to the Brickyard, a large gathering spot at the center of campus.

Late Monday, NCSU students were posting messages of support and suicide prevention. A candlelight vigil will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Stafford Commons, according to a Facebook post by N.C. State Student Government.

“We will be standing in solidarity and remembrance for our lost member of the Wolfpack,” the announcement said.

Counseling was available for students late Monday.
