UNC board protesters included three students
Protesters arrested on Tuesday at the UNC Board of Governors meeting included three current students.
Police reports released Wednesday included ages and hometowns of the protesters. Madeleine Scanlon, 21, of Winston-Salem, was charged with resisting and obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct and assault inflicting serious injury of a law enforcement officer. Scanlon is listed as the primary contact for a UNC-Chapel Hill student group called UNControllables, described as an organization that “facilitates discussion within the university about anarchist ideas.”
Olufemi Shittu, 24, of Greensboro was listed as a student at UNC Greensboro. She was charged with disorderly conduct.
Irving David Allen, 29, of Greensboro was listed on the police report only as a “visitor.” Allen was charged with resisting and obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.
A fourth protester, Jennifer Myers, 22, a student at UNC-Chapel Hill, was not charged after a magistrate found no probable cause.
