A father in Colorado faces child abuse charges after allegedly challenging his daughter to a gun duel. The two ended up exchanging shots.

Authorities say that Robert Williams, 38, was arguing with his daughter Wednesday night when he pulled a handgun on her and his wife, reports KRDO in Colorado Springs.

He allegedly told his daughter to go get a gun so they could “duel,” according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

“A struggle ensued and a round was fired by the father,” said a release from the sheriff’s office. “The daughter then fired a round in the direction of the father.”

Authorities did not give the daughter’s age, but she was described as a juvenile.

Things escalated from there. As the wife and daughter tried to get away, Williams allegedly grabbed a shotgun from the shed and aimed it at his wife, reports Fox 21 News in Colorado Springs.

The wife grabbed the gun away and took the children to a neighbor’s house, where she called 911, deputies reported.

No one was injured in the incident. Williams was arrested on charges of child abuse, felony menacing and prohibited use of a weapon.
