Part of Raleigh’s Hillsborough Street will be closed to through traffic this weekend
Hillsborough Street will be closed to through traffic from the west end of the N.C. State University campus to Faircloth Street this weekend, to allow crews to do utility work.
The closure is part of the reconstruction of a several-block stretch of Hillsborough that will include new sidewalks, bike lanes, medians and street lights, buried utility lines and three new traffic circles or roundabouts. The $17.5 million project is scheduled to be finished this summer.
The street will be closed to through traffic from 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, through 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29. Through traffic will be directed on a detour that includes Brooks Avenue, Wade Avenue and Faircloth Street. Dixie Trail remains closed at Hillsborough Street.
Businesses along Hillsborough Street will remain open during construction. For more information about the Hillsborough Street Renewal Project, go to hillsboroughst.raleighnc.gov/.
