Ed Weintraub: Don’t promote ‘undocumented’ immigration

In regards to Ned Barnett’s May 31 column “N.C.’s undocumented left in limbo”: He is trying to quash legitimate concern by referring to those opposed to illegal immigration as “driven by xenophobia and hysteria.”

If opposing flooding our country with cheap labor and draining on our limited social resources is xenophobic, then most American citizens are in this category.

I think it is a disgrace that your newspaper promotes the so-called “undocumented” cutting in line ahead of the millions who are patiently trying to immigrate here through legal channels.
