Mel Kilberg: Trump adds pizazz
Regarding the June 17 news article “Trump boasting ‘I’m really rich,’ joins race”: I love the fact that Donald Trump is running for president. He adds an excitement and raw honesty to the race.
He’s a true New Yorker who doesn’t pull his punches, but in his undiplomatic way tells us what he’s going to do. He doesn’t hem and haw when answering questions because, unlike all the other Republican candidates, he tells us exactly what he’s going to do and doesn’t care whether we like him.
The interesting thing about him is the other Republican candidates agree with him on most issues – except they believe to be electable, they have to change their positions or hide them, because they are so horrible, except their belief in defending the unborn.
I would never vote for Donald Trump because I don’t like his positions or the positions of any other Republican candidate. However, he will add honest excitement to the process and will call out the other candidates to be less clandestine and turn the clown car to a real debating platform.
As a former New Yorker with an irrepressible New York personality, I am proud to see my native city represented in this race.
