Spurs' Victor Wembanyama Update Surfaces Hours Before Game 3 vs. Trail Blazers

The San Antonio Spurs are just hours away from tipping off Game 3 of their first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers, with uncertainty surrounding Victor Wembanyama.

San Antonio enters the matchup looking to regain control of the first-round series after dropping Game 2 on the road, with Wembanyama missing most of that game.

The injury occurred when Wembanyama fell hard while driving to the basket, falling and striking his head and exiting the game after just 12 minutes, never making it back. The focus remains on his health, as he was diagnosed with a concussion and has yet to be cleared for a return.

However, according to a report from The Athletic's Jared Weiss, there is visible progress in Wembanyama's recovery ahead of Friday's game.

"Victor Wembanyamagoing through shooting drills with the rest of the team at Spurs shootaround," Weiss reported on X. "He is questionable to play tonight in Game 3 with a concussion."

Weiss shared a video showing Wembanyama actively participating in shooting drills alongside his teammates during the morning session.

Wembanyama's presence on the court marks a step forward in the league's concussion protocol, as he has now at least advanced to light team activities.

The big man had already begun his strength and conditioning progression earlier in the week and traveled with the team to Portland.

As things stand, Wembanyama is officially listed as questionable for Game 3, with his final clearance dependent on completing all required steps under NBA protocol.

The Spurs defeated the Blazers 111-98 in Game 1 but fell 106-103 in Game 2, with Luke Kornet stepping into a larger role in the frontcourt once Wembanyama left the game.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday, with tip-off at 6:30 p.m. ET in Portland.
